Yokota Manufacturing Co., Ltd. sells the ASP type Defoaming and Degassing
Pump that can treat liquids with various viscosities continuously, and
it has been received favorably by users. As this product has a self-priming
and pressurizing function, it can be incorporated in a manufacturing line
to suck, stir and transfer liquid as well as defoam and degas it. These
continuous processes can eliminate the need for a tank for stabilizing
liquid, and as a result the product helps save space and reduce production
time. Yokota offers six models including those with standard specifications
and those with sanitary specifications (treated flow rate: up to 500 L/min).
Highly flexible application
This product can be used to treat various items from low-viscosity ones
such as soft drinks to high-viscosity ones such as paste-like food. It
can be used for highly-foaming items such as soymilk and high-viscosity
items that can easily hold air when stirred, such as paste-like food. Another
feature of this equipment is that it can continuously process even products
including small grains such as whole-grain mustard and dressing. There
is no need to worry about the grains precipitating during the continuous
processing and thus no need for processes such as stirring before transfer,
and so the processing time is reduced. It can perform defoaming and degassing
without problems in line with the processing capacity of a general sterilizer
or homogenizer for items such as soymilk (reference value: 170 L/min).
So far, this product has been used for a wide range of applications including
various beverages, soybean curd manufacturing, cup sweets (puddings, jellies),
ketchup, vegetable paste, and functional food (such as collagen). In particular,
puddings are given a nice finish without air bubbles in the heating (steaming)
process after being filled in a cup.
Excellent degassing capability
This equipment efficiently removes not only bubbles in liquids but also
air dissolved in liquids (dissolved oxygen). Oxygen taken into food during
the manufacturing process can result in color change due to oxidation,
oxidation of functional ingredients, and growth of aerobic microbes.
When tap water (20 degree C) was treated by ASP-0610 at a flow rate of
40 L/min or less, 8 mg/L of dissolved oxygen before treatment was reduced
to as little as 0.5 mg/L at the outlet side. If water after treatment is
frozen by an ice maker, extremely transparent, high-quality and delicious
ice will be produced.
Quality improvement and cost reduction
The merits produced by defoaming and degassing food also lead directly
to cost reductions. If uniform products are made as a result of defoaming
and degassing, volume variations during filling are reduced and the setting
value for fill rations can be minimized, resulting in a higher yield rate.
Quality degradation can also be controlled by removing any dissolved oxygen,
which helps extend the product's expiry date.
